TV Pre-Production CR

Treatment:

Title –

Synopsis – Our game show is based on sound; meaning that all of the rounds within our show are based on listening to sound, whether it be guessing the soundtrack to a movie or game, or humming a song that i only heard by one person. At the end of each round there will be a forfeit for the losing team; these will include eating some nasty food or drink, or wearing some ridiculous clothes.

Format – The format will be, one host in the middle behind a desk of some sort, and two teams of guests either side, each team has a captain. There will be three cameras, one focussed on the dos, and the other two focussed on the teams respectively.

Estimated Duration – Our entire show is going to 30 mins, this includes the game show and VT’s and introduction.

Intended Audience – The intended audience for our show is younger people of a similar age to us; 16-18. The reason we are aiming for this age group is because we understand the humour that this age group likes more because we are the same age.

Style – We are choosing to use a similar style to that of ‘Celebrity Juice’ because it is colourful and recognisable.

Rationale – We are doing the show in this way because it is easily relatable for young people, it also provides a sense of freshness to a well known archetype of game show.

Budget – We have little to no budget for this show and we have only used props and equipment that was provided by the college.

Influence: Celebrity Juice

The reason we have chosen ‘Celebrity Juice’ as our influence is because it is a well known show, known for it’s wacky challenges and entertaining host and guests. Our show is laid out in a similar way to this, as we have a host in the centre and two teams of panellists on either side; each with a team captain. The show will be in a similar running order; having 4 rounds, at the end of each there will be a forfeit made to make the losing team look silly. Our main reason for choosing ‘Celebrity Juice’ is the fact that the point of the show is to make the guests look silly, we have taken this and changed it so that the forfeits are what make them look silly rather than the challenges themselves.

Studio layout for our tv show:

For this i decided to do a rough sketch of the layout, it isn’t the final decision it was just an interpretation of how i view it would look like. I initially had the idea of having it as a bland layout like a normal game show, just a presenter and then two teams either side of him and place a few cameras here and there. But then i thought that would be too simple and boring (just something that has been done time and time again). So instead i had the idea of keeping the classic presenter and two teams either side, but with a little bit of a twist which would include using the entirety of the room. it would include the audience (if we have one) all in the middle sitting in a 360 degree so they can all see around the whole room (possibly give them spinning chairs) and focus on the certain things happening. Next we have forfeits that happen each round, so i thought to spice it up, have four in each corn er of the room and for the final one have it outside in the garden located where the fire doors are. Regarding the cameras, i feel like positioning one to the left of the audience, one behind the audience but higher up to capture the back of the audience whilst still capturing the contestants as well. Then also one to the right hand side of the audience as well. I also had the idea to add either one or two cameras in between the team mates and presenter, so that way we can capture the team mates reactions from what happens in the show.
